Christopher Viehbacher
Biogen has appointed Christopher Viehbacher as president and chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors. Viehbacher’s roles were succeeded on 14 November as he replaces Michel Vounatsos, who led the company since 2017. He offers extensive international experience from his work in both large pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He served for 20 years at GlaxoSmithKline, and then went on to become global chief executive officer at Sanofi. More recently, Viehbacher and Ernesto Bertarelli co-founded Gurnet Point Capital, a Cambridge-based healthcare investment fund, which has led to the creation and continuing development of innovative companies. He has also chaired Vedanta Biosciences, PureTech Health and is a board trustee at Northeastern University. He previously served as board member at Crossover Health.

Fiona Randall
Alzheimer’s Research UK has appointed Fiona Randall as chief scientific officer for the University College London Drug Discovery Institute (UCL DDI). Randall brings extensive experience in neurology drug discovery, strategic partnering and global research management. She previously held roles in drug discovery and strategic partnering at various companies such as Merck, Sharpe and Dohme, GSK, Eisai and Vertex.
Angelini Pharma
Jacopo Andreose
Angelini Pharma has appointed Jacopo Andreose as chief executive officer. Andreose has over twenty years’ experience in pharmaceuticals, having served at Gilead Sciences as its senior vice president, Intercontinental Region. Prior to Gilead, he also worked for GlaxoSmithKline/ViiV Healthcare, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Abbott, covering strategic and operational roles in Europe, Italy, the US and Asia.

Gabrielle Silver
Bioscript Group has appointed Gabrielle Silver as its chief executive officer. Silver brings extensive senior leadership experience in the global healthcare sector to the role and joins the company from CHS Healthcare, where she served as the company's chief executive officer. During her time there, Silver oversaw a period of rapid growth through to an acquisition by Acacium Group last year.

Jérôme Marzinski
OxSonics Therapeutics has appointed Jérôme Marzinski as its chief executive officer. With over 25 years’ experience, Marzinski brings a strong background of expertise as an independent board member of Cimon Medical, where he was also the interim chief executive officer from January 2022. Prior to this, he spent three years as chief executive officer at Visiometrics. He also served as chief operating officer of Vexim.

Chris Williams
Cytek Biosciences has appointed Chris Williams as chief operating officer. Williams served as vice president of engineering, technology, operations and innovation for Thermo Fisher’s Pharma Services Group. He was general manager for single-use technologies and vice president and general manager for bioprocess equipment and automation at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Nick Maishman
ViroCell Biologics has appointed Nick Maishman as chief operating officer. Maishman has over thirty years’ commercial manufacturing and leadership experience. He served as interim chief scientific affairs and operations officer at Alliance Pharmaceuticals. He served as a vaccine manufacturing project lead at Valneva and as the company’s vice president of manufacturing operations.

Rentschler Biopharma has appointed Christiane Bardroff as chief operating officer and member of the executive board. Bardroff brings over 15 years’ experience and served as the company’s senior vice president (SVP), client programme management, as well as SVP, clinical and commercial manufacturing. She also served at Teva Biotech as director of automation and IT.

Jacopo Murzi
Moderna has appointed Jacopo Murzi as its general manager for Italy. Murzi joins Moderna from Alfasigma, where he served as a general manager responsible for its pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare businesses. Prior to that, he served the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson as the managing director Near East, Maghreb and Africa.
Amarin
Scott Curley
Amarin has appointed Scott Curley as its UK and Ireland general manager. Curly has a background of over two decades of industry experience as an enterprise leader, alongside a record of accelerating market entry and team leadership in the UK and the Asia Pacific region.
He joins the company from AstraZeneca where he served for over 11 years in roles that included head of commercial operations, vice president and global medicines lead, integrated patient solutions – respiratory. From 2016 to 2017, he served as a board member for the Hong Kong Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry. He also served at GlaxoSmithKline for over nine years in a variety of regional managerial roles. He began his career at SmithKlineBeecham in 1998 as an area sales manager.

Dipal Patel
Valneva has appointed Dipal Patel as chief commercial officer and management board member.
Patel brings over 23 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, covering commercial strategy, execution, market access and life cycle management. Since 2019, she has been global commercial head of GSK’s shingles vaccine (Shingrix), and led a worldwide cross-functional team. She started at GSK in 2002.
ADC Therapeutics
Kristen Harrington-Smith
ADC Therapeutics has appointed Kristen Harrington-Smith as chief commercial officer. Harrington-Smith brings over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, having most recently served as chief commercial officer of Immunogen. Prior to that, she served as vice president and head, US Hematology at Novartis Pharmaceuticals. In previous roles at Novartis, she was vice president and head, US CAR-T.

Lisa Deschamps
Reset Pharmaceuticals has appointed Lisa Deschamps to its board of directors.
Deschamps is currently chief executive officer and board member of AviadoBio. She was senior vice president and chief business officer of Novartis Gene Therapies, where she was responsible for strategic planning in the gene therapy portfolio. She served as worldwide business head of neuroscience at Novartis.

Adagene has appointed Cuong Do as independent director of its board of directors. Do will also serve as an audit committee member. He is currently president and chief executive officer of BioVie, a company developing therapies for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Prior to BioVie, he was the president of Samsung’s Global Strategy Group and also served as chief strategy officer for Merck.

Jolanda Crombach
Moderna has appointed Jolanda Crombach as general manager for the Netherlands. Crombach started her career as a pharmacist, before moving into the pharmaceutical sector when she joined Pfizer in 2000 as a medical advisor, where she was responsible for overseeing public affairs. She worked at MSD for 11 years, where she held several strategic positions, including as business unit director.

Ubiquigent has appointed Hozefa Amijee as head of business development. Amijee joins from Cellesce where he served as head of business development. He has over 20 years’ scientific and commercial experience in the life sciences industry, with Cambridge-based scientific roles at RxCelerate, Total Scientific and Senexis. Amijee completed his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Manchester.

Clasado Biosciences has appointed Dominic Kwiatkowski as director of sales, North America. Kwiatkowski served as senior global strategic account manager at Christian Hansen. He also served at RXDK Consulting as a national business development director. He holds a Masters degree in Strategic Global and Key Account Management from the University of St Gallen, Switzerland.

Cardior Pharmaceuticals has appointed Axel-Sven Malkomes as chief financial officer. Malkomes brings nearly 30 years’ life sciences experience from executive roles, investment banking and healthcare investing. He held the position of chief financial officer and chief business officer at Medigene. He also served at Barclays and Société Générale and co-headed UK private equity firm 3i Group.

Hall, the agency’s founder, has led the team as managing director for 17 years and has an extensive background in medical communications. Before Uptake Strategies, she worked as global commercial strategy director at GlaxoSmithKline and was also head of marketing, Acomplia, UK and Ireland for Sanofi in 2004.

Pfleiderer joins Havas Health & You with a wealth of experience from TBWA\WorldHealth, where he most recently served as US managing partner and, prior to that, global chief strategy officer. He also served as senior vice president, director, market strategy and development at CAHG, a TBWA\WorldHealth agency.
