The power of real-world evidence

In Danny Buckland’s article on real-world evidence this month, he focuses in on real-world data and its capabilities, looking at how the surge in real-world data presents opportunities for greater understanding of patients and conditions, but that it needs standardising and harmonising to liberate its full potential.

As Danny says: “The potential of real-world evidence to deliver insights at speed, compared to the years required by randomised controlled trials, cannot be ignored, but realising the benefits in full is some distance away.” Read more on page 26.

Our article from Henry Li, a senior policy advisor for health policy at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, looks at the opportunity the UK has to become an mRNA superpower and how the UK can harness the potential of mRNA technology to play a global leading role and be a driving force of the bio-industrial revolution.

Henry goes on to talk about how mRNA is capable of powering innovative vaccines and therapeutics for an array of diseases and creating breakthroughs for previously incurable conditions, including cancers and rare diseases. Read more on page 18.
