The consultancy was officially launched in 2005 at PMEA by co-founders Claire Eldridge and Neil Crump. Since its launch, the consultancy has worked with over 100 companies in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, including on clinical trial recruitment, patient involvement, product launches and more.
“It has been a privilege to work with our clients to help realise the potential of their interventions, to ensure patient access to innovation and to promote collaboration across the industry,” said Eldridge.
“Pharma and healthcare have never been so vital to the world and we are more driven than ever by our purpose to change patient lives,” she added.
“Over the next 15 years, healthcare and communications are going to change dramatically, they will be almost unrecognisable,” said Crump.
“But one thing that will undoubtedly continue to be absolutely fundamental is partnering meaningfully with patients,” he added.
In November 2020, Eldridge and Crump launched Atlas, a new specialist consultancy that has a focus on supporting clients to connect with patients.
The new consultancy’s team has experience in health policy and behavioural and implementation science and offers five services – find, align, co-design, chart and advance – to its clients.
Atlas is led by managing director Aaron Pond, who previously worked alongside Eldridge and Crump for over a decade. The team comprises specialists with expertise in strategy, change implementation, compliance, patient engagement, social science, co-design and innovation.
“Aaron [Pond] returning to the fold is a testament to the agency’s skill at discovering new talent and the loyalty engendered by team members, past and present. Of all that we have achieved, I am most proud of creating our brilliant team, with all of us uniting with our clients to really understand patients and never settle for ‘that’ll do’,” added Eldridge.
BBI Health Leadership Team David Moore-MD Abi Owers-Engagement Director Ella Bransfield-Group Account Director Jennifer Webb-Strategy Director
The new BBI Health division will be led by David Moore, who joined the agency 18 months ago from Ashfield Communications, where he served as an executive director.
“With digital and social being the new currency for healthcare marketing, brands and organisations need to think and act differently and be aligned to the new rules of effective HCP and patient engagement,” said Moore.
Since joining the agency, Moore has added senior people from agencies including Havas Lynx, Ashfield and McCann to the healthcare team.
“BBI has a strong heritage for digital performance and a 65-strong team of strategists, specialists and content creators. BBI Health will leverage that expertise working with our healthcare teams,” added Moore.
BBI Health has secured a client list which includes companies across Sanofi Genzyme, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and AstraZeneca.
The division will aim to support pharma and consumer health marketers to navigate the real-world digital space with real-world content, while delivering ongoing impact and long-term ROI.
“The pandemic has created a unique opportunity for healthcare. People have expectations that pharmaceutical, devices and diagnostic companies are going to lead us to a safer and more stable world,” said Moore.
He added: “They want to be engaged with content through social and digital dialogues, which now powerfully opens the door to drive better outcomes. HCPs and consumers want information that is meaningful and valuable to them in managing conditions and maintaining their well-being. We believe we can support that shifting paradigm.”
