Welcome to 2022!

While the world’s focus has been firmly fixed on the COVID-19 pandemic for the last two years, there is another hidden crisis in Europe: cardiovascular disease. CVD is the continent’s number one killer, accounting for 3.9 million deaths and costing the European Union €210bn. The article on page 18 investigates this growing crisis and looks at the need for a new strategy.

Over the past two years, the restrictions on travel caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have had a huge, knock-on effect on national and international congresses and conferences.
